Who we are

Statement of Faith

Our Doctrinal Statement1.) There is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4)who is infinitely perfect (Matthew 5:48),existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit(Matthew 28:19)2.) Jesus Christ is the true God and the true man. (Philippians 2:6-11) He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary (Luke 1:34-–38).He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust (I Peter 3:18),as a substitutionary sacrifice (Hebrews 2:97),and all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood (Romans 5:9),He arose from the dead according to the Scriptures (Acts 2:23–24),He is now at the right hand of Majesty on high as our great High Priest (Hebrews 8:1) .He will come again to establish His kingdom, righteousness and peace (Matthew 26:64). 3.) The Holy Spirit is a divine person (John 14:15–18), sent to dwell, guide, teach, empower the believer (John 16:13, Acts 1:8),and convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment (John 16:7–11). 4.) The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as originally given, were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men. They constitute the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice (2 Peter 1:20–21, 2 Timothy 3:15–16). 5.) Man was originally created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27) he fell through disobedience, incurring thereby both physical and spiritual death. All men are born with a sinful nature (Romans 3:23), are separated from the life of God, and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians15:20–23). The portion of the unrepentant and unbelieving is existence forever in conscious torment (Revelation 21:819);and that of the believer, in everlasting joy and bliss (Revelation 21:1–4).6. Salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ for all men; and those who repent and believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God (Titus 3:4–7). 7. It is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit, and be sanctified wholly(1 Thessalonians 5:23), being separated from sin and the world and fully dedicated to the will of God, thereby receiving power for holy living and effective service (Acts 1:8). This is both a crisis and a progressive experience, wrought in the life of the believer subsequent to conversion (Romans 6:1–14).8. Provision is made in the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ, for the healing of the mortal body (Matthew 8:16-17). Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are privileges for the Church in this present age (James 5:13-16).9. The Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church (Ephesians 1:22–23), which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the gospel to all nations (Matthew 28:19–20).The local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the gospel, and observance of the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord's Supper (Acts 2:41–47).10. There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; for the former, a resurrection unto life (1 Corinthians 15:20–23); for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment (John 5:28–29). 11. The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent (Hebrews 10:37)and will be personal, visible, and premillennial ( Luke 21:27). newcomers and friends while enjoying the wealth of activities and people the Rochester

area has to offer. Past events have included a kayak/canoe adventure, expert guest

speakers on local history & culture, and picnics. We're always looking for the next

MEN'S MINISTRIES

ALLIANCE MEN

This group of men plan times together with a keynote speaker and usually something to eat afterwards. The topics vary according to the interests of the men involved, and provide an opportunity to invite others to join them.

SMALL GROUPSHEDGE OF PROTECTION - Bobbie BradenThis is a group of women who feel called to pray for our children. The age of the child does not matter. Each month there is an insert in the bulletin giving the congregation an opportunity to submit a prayer request. These are then distributed to the women after the morning service once a month in the library. All of the information for prayer is kept in the strictest of confidence.PRAYER FOR REVIVAL - Bobbie DiehlWith hearts attuned to the Holy Spirit, this group meets to pray every Tuesday evening in the sanctuary at 6:00pm. They pray for revival, general and individual needs, the worldwide Church, and whatever the Holy Spirit puts on their hearts. Anyone who wants specific prayer may come and they will pray for you. Worshipping with psalms, hymns & spiritual songs, they destroy strongholds and praise the Lord Jesus.Women's CHRISTIAN GROWTH Class - Sunday 9:30amMature believers have led Bible studies focused on either a book of the Bible or a topic of interest to women. Beginning with a time of prayer and praise, they encourage discussion with stimulating questions and relevant examples. Women of all ages are welcome to join in with this friendly group meeting in the Media Center each Sunday.DEACONESS AUXILIARY - Rachael LinnThe deaconesses are our "go-to women," as they take responsibility for the social and spiritual care extended by the women of the church. They oversee the areas of nursery care, hospitality, visitation, emergency childcare, emergency meals, prayer chain, greeters, kitchen, and fellowships. They also assist the Elders and Deacons when needed. They are always looking for extra hands to help. If there is an area you feel led to help serve the body of Christ, please let the Head Deaconess know.

During the school year our teens (7th-12th grades) will meet at 6:00 pm on Saturday evenings and other times for special occasions. During the summers, individual events are planned.

We've had fun field trips like summer pool parties, PolarWave Snowtubing, and the local icecream shop; and we also do community service projects together, like cleaning up the local park, or delivering cookies to the local ambulance corps and fire department.

NURSERYStarting at 10:30AM Sunday morning, children under the age of 4 may be dropped off in our cheery, well-equipped nursery. The children will be cared for until the parent that dropped them off returns for them. This ministry is staffed by volunteers who have met the qualifications of our "Safe Place" policy. There are always two caring adults assigned each week.CHILDREN'S CHURCHEvery Sunday the children from 5 years to 5th grade are dismissed from the service after the singing to participate in their own time of learning about God. They meet in the fellowship hall, and hear a bible story followed by an object lesson, craft, game and a memory verse.We are always looking for assistants in the Christian education of our children. The material is always provided and the time frame for volunteering can be flexible. There is plenty of help available and the work is not hard.BACKYARD BIBLE CLUBSOur church's summer ministry to children is called Backyard Bible Clubs. With lots of individual adult attention, these neighborhood clubs are one week full of games, Bible stories, crafts, snacks & prizes. If you'd like to host a club for your neighborhood kids this summer, please let us know!

Bible Studies BIBLE STUDY - F.U.E.L GROUPSYou are welcome to visit any of these at any time. Come regularly or come when you can! Call the church at 621-1899 for more information. AT CHURCHWednesday mornings at 7AM. A small group of men meet who are interested in studying the scriptures. After the study, the group goes out for breakfast. You are welcome to join us.IN GREECEWednesday evenings at 7PM. Frank Lipomi leads a bible study in his and his wife Charlene's home. The group is currently studying the book “"The Pursuit of Holiness”" by Jerry Bridges. What does holiness look like? For starters, it doesn't look anything like perfection. And it doesn't necessarily look like victory. Mostly, it consists of effort, prayer, grace, and obedience. Bridges takes holiness out of the realm of the impossible and brings it into the real world of your daily life and decisions. There is prayer and a time of fellowship.Thursday evening at 7PM. Jim Martin in doing a study on "Walk Through the Bible".We will read through the bible in one year.

“Every Christmas we try to look for the perfect gift for the people we love. We do our best to keep it a secret. God, on the other hand, gave the most perfect gift that will last us for eternity, and He didn’t hide it from us. He told us about this gift for centuries – we call them prophecies. Pastoral Staff

Pastor Tedd Lewellen Pastor Tedd was born an "MK" (missionary kid) of parents ministering in India for 40 years. After graduation from high school in India, he attended and received his B.S. degree from Houghton College in New York State. This is also where he met and married his wife, Nancy.Pastor Tedd went on to seminary and received his Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He then spent three years ministering as a youth pastor at The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in DuBois W. PA.In 1986, he along with his wife and family, moved to France for one year to learn French to minister among French speaking people in West Africa. In 1987 they moved again and arrived n Abidjan, Ivory Coast where they spent 15 years. While there, they also learned the Jula language to minister among the millions of imigrants that moved into Ivory Coast from Mali and Burkina Faso (the two countries north of Ivory Coast).They returned to the States in 2000 and spent two years in Arlington as the Pastor of Outreach. That was followed by six years at Cornerstone International Church in Fairfax, VA as Senior Pastor.Pastor Tedd and Nancy are excited to see what God has in store for all of us here at The Savior's Chapel and welcomes you to come be our guest - no strings attached. We are propelled by the belief that Jesus Christ is the answer to people's deepest needs -- not religion, not the church, not a creed, but his living person. That is why we are called an “alliance” church. We seek to maintain cordial fellowship with all churches and Christians who believe in the Christ of the Bible.Do you believe in the Bible?We accept the sixty-six books of the Bible as the actual words of God without error to all people. We figure that if God is able to create everything that we see, then he is also able to tell us what he wants us to know. We see the Bible as a love letter from God, leading us to know Christ personally and guiding us into all truth as we grow in our faith.Can I visit if I'm not sure I'm a Christian?Of course! We invite you to come and sample. The New Testament gives clear guidelines for the manifestation of the gifts.What kind of music do you use?Our goal is to provide music for all people to help them worship God from the heart. As a result, our worship music is very wide-ranging. At our Sunday 10:45 AM blended worship service we have everything from traditional hymns to gospel songs to contemporary choruses.Will I be pressured to give?We do our best to avoid pressuring people. We believe that giving to the church should be a free act of worship to Christ, and so we do not have fund-raising campaigns. We seek to help each person make a personal response to God in worship through giving. In addition, each year we encourage everyone to pray about what God would have them give to missionary work since we help support 1100 missionaries worldwide.What do you have for children?Nursery is provided for Sunday school, morning worship, and evening worship. There are Sunday schools classes for all ages, and children's worship during the second half of adult morning worship. There is a full-fledged teen ministry.Are you wheelchair accessible? Do you have help for the hearing-impaired?Our entire facility is barrier-free, and we have a transmitter with individual receivers for the hearing-impaired.Do you have a political affiliation?We believe that the mission of the church is far higher than any political party or view. Jesus said his kingdom was not of this world, and so we do not try to build it here. We encourage each individual member to be informed and involved as responsible members of the community.Are divorced people welcome?Of course! Jesus accepted all people on one basis only: that they come to him in faith that his death cleanses them from anything they have done wrong and that his resurrection grants them new life. We believe that Jesus is both able and eager to bring healing and wholeness to people who have experienced every kind of wound.What kind of sermons should I expect?We believe that the most important thing we can do for our people is to teach them to know God through the Bible, so we do a lot of Bible teaching with clear applications to daily life.
